Snowy Mountain to Home

<

Leaving Corryong we travelled through Khancoban & on to Jindabyn our stay for 2 nights.
This was a great run although Browny (the driver) had her work cut out with the many bends. From Bairnsdale basically to Cooma it was round 1 bend & straight on to next, I have never been over such a consistantly winding road. Up & down. I wouldn't do it with Van although we did see a few hardy souls with Vans.
The scenery was fantastic from high mountain peaks & deep valleys to vast tracts of trees. There were still pockets of snow on the higher points.
There were stops at the many lookouts to take pics & just take in the views. The view of Watsons Crag from Olsons lookout just terrific.
Another highlight was the bikes, 2986 bikes took part in a ride through Thredbo to raise funds for childrens cancer. We met the first groups at Omeo and kept meeting more all the way to Thredbo. I must say how impressed with their behavior they put a lot of car drivers to shame.

The Pics From top (1)Lake Jindabyne (2) Kosciuszko (3)Guthaga Dam (4)Watsons Crag (5)Sowy peaks.
After we settled in to Jindabyne we relaxed and next morning we took a drive around the area going to Guthaga. Perisher & Charlots Pass.
Some of the homes in these places are very snazzy, OH to have money. We found a cafe that had the best Bacon & Egg roll, It was terrific but too hot for Browny (spicey). Then next day on to Cooma for Browny to get her hair washed. and then on to Canberra for lunch with friends before heading home.
I still have some pics to work on & as soon as they are done I will post them here.

Correction

Moving On

We arrived in Tallangatta to find that we had misplaced the charger for Mobile phone so after a quick trip to Wodonga to get new one & a nights rest it was on to Corryong. We travelled there via Walwa & Tintildra to see all the history of the Watsons. We made an unintentionally detour to Bethanga. which took us around the upper reaches of the Hume dam & the Murray River. Fantastic country & must look great when dam is fuull. A local told us it has been 10 years since it was full, he also told us in graphic language that there was nothing to see in Walwa.
Back to the trip at Walwa we were lucky to meet the present owner of Walwa Homestead the original home of Sydney Watson who gave us a tour including the Grave.
Then on to Tintildra to see the General store & hotel started by Sydney we were given a history talk on the area. At Corryong we met a descendent of the builder of Sydney Watsons Hotel & store. Sydney Watson seems to have been a man of vision as wel as another brother Archibald (who was known as "The Prof).

Trip Part 2

We spent a couple of days in Geelong before getting the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorento. This is a pleasant 40 minute trip and not expensive, then it was a leisurely drive along the coast before turning inland to Tarralgon.

t

After a nights rest it was on to Bairnsdale before heading to the Victorian High Country to follow the Watson Trail (area settled by Sydney Grandison Watson Great uncle of Sue) He was known as The king of the Mountains.
We travelled through some great country, the snowfields of Mt Hotham, small towns like Omeo, Dinner Plains, Myrtlefield & Mitta Mitta. & roads that wound through great mountain peaks, running streams & large tracts of trees. When I said "wound" the road was just one turn after another.
We did the area between Omeo & Myrtlefield twice as we found that at Myrtlefield that Sue had left her credit card at Omeo but that gave us the oppertunity to do the other road that took us through Mitta Mitta & Eskdale before stopping a Tallangatta.

Southern Trip

On the road again, heading to Melbourne. Called into Brown Brothers Winery to pick up a bottle of a favourite wine (last of the big spenders), Our park in Melbourne was reasonable considering its cost, we are fossils & don't need much,We went to Hanging Rock with friends & after a nice lunch I climbed to the top.It is a foreboding place & well suited to the movie Picnic at Hanging Rock'

We next visited a friend of Sue for a great Barby.
leavig Melbourne we went to Geeelong to visit a dear friend of mine, the last time I saw her it was a sad cercumstance, her husband a long missing friend had just passed away. we had a nice lunch at a bistro called The Sphynx,

Family Visit

Well we got away on time & went down the Hume Highway to Albury to see my new great granddaughter. what abeauty, my daughter Jamie has 3 beautifuk daughters & now Erin has also 3 beautiful girls. After checking into park we had to go & see the family. The new bub is beautiful (not Pops bias)

Andrea taged me

1] I hate people chewing gum with their mouth open.!!!! Who wants to see that!!!!!
2] I talk to things ie Stuffed animals, asking them how they are feeling today & what would they like to do etc /inanimate objects ie washing maching when it annoys me etc.
3] I hate bad mannered & inconsiderate drivers. ie speeding, tailgating, switching lanes, loud music that you can hear from miles away & not wearing seatbelts. STUPID
4] People being late for something ie work, movies, party etc.90% of it is just inconsideration of others
5] I save all animals except cockroaches or flies {although I use to breed them for experimants so they could be eliminated] & I WONT ALLOW ANYONE TO KILL SPIDERS OR SNAKES
6] I cannt think of anything elese as I'm not as quirky as you Andrea ,although I bet there are MILLIONS of people who would VIOLENTLY disagree with this!!!!! :+}}}}}}}}}} Browny [SueB}
