Here we are stuck in the (hard to take) City of Cairns. Temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees celcious. We were to be going to Townsville but woe is us but we can cope.
The V8’s are racing so their is no accommodation in Townsville, but not to worry there is plenty to do here. We are going out to Cape Tribulation & the Daintree Rain Forrest so should be another chance for photo session. Also chance to get close to crocs in the wild & in their natural environment.
Well we went out to Daintree & did a cruise on the Daintree River in an electric boat, this was good, but first we found a hidden gem. We went to Barren Gorge, this is a rugged gorge with an impressive waterfall & rocky river. We had visited Cairns a few times without knowing of this but were blown away with the rugged walls & rocky river & the height of the falls, what a sight this would be in the wet.
The Daintree where we see rain forrests that are as pristine as they were millions of years ago, our guide on the tour, Scott, proved again the value of doing tours with guides, they know the places that you wouldn't think of going & also where the flora & fauna are hidden. While there we had to have a feed of Barramundi & Browny discovered Coffee milkshakes.
The American Carrier Essex is in port & hundreds of sailors in town but again how young they seem, are they put in the American army & navy as soon as they can walk? They do seem very well behaved & a credit to their country.
