Re Cairns

Well we are now in Cairns after a great trip to Merluna. Cairns, a thriving city in North Queensland is booming & at present they are having a visit from an American aircraft carrier. Although Cairns is a big tourist town the people still retain their country ways e.g. friendliness & helpfulness.
The trip from Mt Carbine was just a 2 hour run down the mountain to the coast. After booking into the van park it was into town to stock up. This is a very good caravan park & again for a big park the staff again are helpful & know their area, they bend over backwards to make sure you get value from anything they recommend
We went on a trip to the reef which was very good. A trip down the Musgrave River & then a 20 minute ride out to the Franklin Islands, we went ashore on Normanby Island. On the island some went snorkeling & some went on an exploration of the island. Shorty did the walk while Browny relaxed in the shade. After a nice lunch we boarded a glass bottomed boat for a trip over the reef. The coral was beautiful but the fish population wasn’t as prolific as Green Island. Normanb though is pristine & the only thing you leave on the island are footprints.
We recommend this trip, a great crew who were attentive to your every need, they were knowledgeable & nothing was a problem to them.We will be here for another week , then move south to Townsville before heading back inland.
